Tuesday Tidbits

It’s been another busy week for us, but we are excited!!! With any luck, the electric will be turned on this week and we will have lights. With the shorter days, this will be an enormous help for us. We already have most of the light switches and outlets in (we are really ready to have power).

Tuesday Tidbits

This is it! I’m calling it right now! The garage painting will be entirely finished this week. Entirely. No more garage painting. Plenty of other painting, but that’s a different topic. The electric is coming along very well (the interior of the house is actually completely wired)! Some wires are even ready for switches. And naturally,

The Never Ending Garage

Yes, you have listened read through all my comments/whining/complaining about the never ending garage painting for a month now. A month! We are so close…so very close to being done. The last parts were the super high peaks on each side and I needed Trent to help set up the scaffolding (okay, I needed him to

Tuesday Tidbits

Another Tuesday, another bit of trivial, tidbit info (complete with photos). It’s been a crazy few months and amazing to think that summer is on its way out. Trent has been with our pastor and a couple of other guys the past 10 days for a little R&R. Each year they head to Canada and

It’s All in the Angle

Back when we started this blog, we made an agreement to share what we could for better or worse. Clearly no one wants to hear every detail (like how we have spent 3 months debating what type of wood floors should go in the house: natural hickory…you know it would be awesome!). However, some things

The progress has slowed a little these past couple of weeks (electrical is SLOW, folks!)…but we are still managing to crank out as much as possible each day. The garage painting is coming along. Not near as fast as I would like, but moving along. It has taken many trips to Sherwin Williams and lots of

Garage Painting

We have started the garage painting and it’s possible that it will take even longer than I expected. Due to the grain of the siding we chose, it will need to be painted by brush. No spraying. No big rollers. Just good old-fashion Tom Sawyer/Karate Kid style work. Oh goody! I was afraid this project

The Garage

If you follow along on Facebook or Instagram, you know that this week (yes, the hottest week this summer) we decided to install the siding on the garage. Naturally, if we could have picked a nice 65-70 degree week that would have been our first choice…but it’s just not how this usually works. Thankfully, we

New Every Day

Currently, we are in the super fun part of the project where something is new every day. Every. Single. Day. It’s pretty awesome. Sadly, we know that the boring part is coming. The part where all we do for weeks on end is fill nail holes, touch up paint and loads of other yawn-worthy events.

Going, Going, Gone

For the past couple of weeks, we have been working on getting rid of the garage. Finally, the day has come that it is completely gone! We will begin work on the new garage immediately. Yesterday, actually. While we don’t know what all the finishes will be on the garage, it’s exciting just to have
