Well, it’s been another busy week at our home for this Tuesday Tidbits. I’m partly to blame for the craziness because I took a few days off and went to visit some family in Gatlinburg. Sometimes you just have to get in the car and drive a few hours away…to a very beautiful landscape. Sadly, photos simply don’t do it justice. If you have not been to the Great Smoky National Park, GO. It’s one of the most affordable trips (from our area) while still being completely amazing!
And we even saw lots of black bears (from a nice, safe, respectable distance)!
While I was gone, Trent would send me a random pic of Niles “struggling at home” without me.
Note the glider chair in the pic above. It’s from Shipshewana and was a gift from my parents several years ago. If you need a rocking chair, glider or just something comfy you should buy one of these chairs. Ours has a gliding ottoman as well and it is the most incredible chair ever (clearly Niles agrees). They come in a variety of wood colors and materials for the padding. They can be found in many of the shops in Shipshewana and are priced reasonable (for a nice, custom piece of furniture).
Several of you have asked about our furniture selection (and how we buy new furniture all the time). We do not buy all new furniture with each house. We keep some of our favorite pieces from each house and add to it. The table below is an antique table that my family used throughout my life as a coffee table. I’ve had it since my first apartment after college and the table still makes the cut today. As you can tell, the coffee table books are Lighthouses and Muscle Cars…life is all about compromise, friends.
If you follow along on Instagram, you saw a different angle of this next photo. Niles loves our skylight windows on sunny days. This also helps give a little view into how our master bedroom flows into our master bathroom.
I have been closely monitoring the magnolia tree directly outside our master window (in the front yard). For the last several days, it has been on the brink of blooming….but it looks like the real action will happen today. Here are 3 pics I took during the past 10 days. I absolutely love that everything is finally starting to bloom!
Here it is from this morning….just gorgeous!
I recently told Trent that I’m looking for something to do on our dining table that is more summer’ish. I really don’t have a plan, just keeping my eyes open for something that feels light and bright as a summer centerpiece. I came downstairs one morning and realized this was NOT what I had in mind. In his defense, there are a family of birds that made our side porch their newest home.
And lastly, I’m trying to figure out what window treatments to do in our upstairs guest suite. The only other window in the room is a skylight, so I don’t want to completely cover them. The walls are Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and the bedding is white with white/khaki gingham print. My thought is to find something that can be open 99% of the time (only closed when we have company visiting). These windows let in a lot of light to the room and staircase landing. I’m struggling to decide if I do one big window treatment or 3 smaller ones. The entire window set is approximately 6′ wide and 4.5′ tall. Thoughts?
As always, thank you for following along and have a wonderful week!
