Another Tuesday Tidbits post and (shock, gasp) it’s snowing as I write this on Monday evening. It’s April 16th and the sweet magnolia tree in our front yard is desperately trying to bloom.

With the weather being what it is, we have not been able to start anything on the exterior. However, according the local weatherman actual spring weather is not far away.

If you follow along on Facebook or Instagram, you know that my dad fully restored a chair my husband was given by his grandmother. His grandmother will be 100 years old this year and the chair came from HER grandmother. Trent and I both think the world of his grandmother, so it’s absolutely wonderful to have this item. While it’s a full size chair, it is extremely dainty and petite. It will most likely stay in the front parlor (our piano room), but I’m still working on decorating that room…not sure exactly where the chair will land.

And on the topic of decorating, we are still a LONG way from being finished…but things are starting to feel a little more “homey.”

I purchased some Birch logs for the large fireplace (and specifically ordered the largest ones I could find). Alas, the fireplace is so huge that it just swallows them up. I placed another order for more logs to fill it a little higher. The piece of hickory wood under the wood grate is to cover the hole for ventilation. We have a kitty that just thinks that hole is the coolest thing ever.

As I mentioned last week, we have some blog news to share. If you follow other blogs (much larger ones than our little guy), they often do collaboration posts with various companies. This means that the blogger was either paid or given merchandise for free (or dramatically reduced) in order to do the specific blog post. While we have received several opportunities for these types of blog posts and it just wasn’t our thing. No judgement on those who do this! Seriously…I often read these types of posts and make a purchase because of it. However, we recently received an invite to become part of Wayfair’s Homemaker Blogger Program. While the word “homemaker” is not typically used in a sentence with my name (like never-ever), the program really lines up with our goals and intentions for this blog.

Q: Does this mean you are going to start selling stuff on the blog?

A: Nope. It means that I will have a few more resources available to show you exactly what we purchased, how much it cost and where you can easily find it.

Q: Will you be getting paid to do this?

A: Sadly, no. I may receive a discount on a specific item and if so, I will share that info with you to be open and honest.

Q: Does this mean that you become a marketing tool for Wayfair?

A: Kinda’…but the truth is we purchased a TON of stuff for this house from Wayfair…long before this opportunity. It’s what makes this such a good fit. We genuinely love the website and have only good experiences. That being said, if something is just a complete #fail, we plan to share that with you as well.

Q: Does this mean the entire blog is going this direction?

A: No. Not at all. Only the occasional post will be geared towards this. However, as I mentioned earlier I have found several of these posts (by other bloggers) to be helpful. I see the way someone decorated their fireplace mantel and right there is a link to purchase the same or similar items for my own mantel.

Q: So, what’s in it for you?

A: Well, a larger audience to potentially help or give a little motivation to try something new. Additionally, it may give us the chance to shine a light on our little corner of the world. #puremichigan

That’s basically the whole scoop and I wanted to share it with all of you! As always, I hope you have a wonderful week and thank you for following along!

I, too, love Wayfair and look forward to what may come from your partnership! Actually…you are making a home so bust apart that homemaker label! It looks different for each of us.

Yeah..nothing better for both the blogger and reader to be directed right to the product. Cuts a lot of time out for both parties having to ask and answer questions. Love that chair!! And those logs… I bought 2 huge bundles at TJ around Christmas for 14.99 ea. Score. But as you know it’s hit or miss. I just love how they look in your fireplace! I have ours in a big, chunky Homegoods basket near our fireplace.

When I was looking at today’s pictures, I thought your rugs looked like they may have come from Wayfair because we recently purchased rugs there, and I spent a LOT of time looking at them on their website. I, too, have been very happy with Wayfair!

Working with Wayfair will be good for a lot of people so good luck with your venture. I have purchased from Wayfair and love everything I have. They have very unique items at a fair price.

I said this before but it’s worth repeating…you have done a beautiful job redoing your home. I’m very happy you finally get to enjoy it.

You home is taking shape with it’s furnishings. The Birch logs make for a nice colorful center point for your fireplace and as I have previously mentioned, the rocking chair has been so nicely restored and fits perfectly with your decor. Hopefully soon the winter weather will be behind us and we can start moving outside to other chores to be done….
