Another Tuesday Tidbits post and we had another busy week. We did take some time to reflect and enjoy Easter Sunday, though! Our kitchen got a little more entertaining use as we had my family all over to celebrate both my mom and dad’s birthdays. Can I just say that whoever came up with the 2 islands-in-a-kitchen idea is a GENIUS! I wish it were me, but I’m just a copycat. Having 2 islands is SO convenient while entertaining. If you are building or remolding and happen to have the space to squeeze in 2 islands, DO IT! You will never regret it.

As I was looking back this weekend, I realized this was our view exactly 2 years ago today! Boy are we glad to be in a different phase.

We have gotten a little more of the home office put together (we are using it regardless, because we basically live in our office). I’m on the search for a perfect rug in the office that doesn’t necessarily match the light blue paint, but somehow compliments it. Send me a message if you see something!

Niles has stopped being scared of our postal carrier and now moves towards the mail slot at the appropriate time each day. He sits and waits…because he is a cat and patience is definitely his virtue. In other news (relating to this pic) the front doors are the last doors that need to be redone (and have all that paint removed from the hinges). It’s on our summer to-do list…but we are in discussions about if we should keep the front door white, take it back to stained wood or paint it a color. So many options!

Finally, the window treatments for our living room came in and I love how they look! When I originally ordered the kitchen window treatments, I decided to wait on everything else (to see if we liked them). In the end, we decided to use them in the living room and I’m pleased with the look. They allow a LOT of light in, allow for us to still see the curved portion of the windows, while providing just a little privacy. Of course, most days they are partially open to give Niles a view.

As always, thank you for following along and have a wonderful week!

Your home has such a peaceful decor. Love what you’ve done. I would love to see the wood on the front doors! If it’s pretty, which I bet it is, may make another beautiful touch.
    Thanks for sharing!

My choice for finish on your front door would be to take it back to original wood and stain it. I have seen some absolutely beautiful old original doors stripped and stained on restored homes and they are not only beautiful but give so much added character and warmth … a classic restoration choice. I do love that you painted the trim and all interior room doors .. will look forward to see what you and Trent decide!

I think I would go back to the original wood for the front door. I do love the window treatments you have chosen thus far.

If you are in need of a perfect rug and a perfect size might I recommend looking at having one made from carpet? I have an 1930’s home and it is hard to find an area rug the perfect size. If you need more info let me know.

My vote is to take the front door back to its original state. I think it will best compliment the exterior.
