Another Tuesday Tidbits with a few items that have kept us busy this week!

We installed 2 of the 4 garage doors openers this week and we seriously feel like we are living the high life! For 18 months we have manually opened and closed the garage doors…every single day. The opener is one of life’s greatest inventions! These openers are particularly cool for a couple of reasons.

They connect to our wifi and allow us to open our garage door from anywhere in the world. Mildly concerning when it comes to hackers? Sure. But that’s what security systems and cameras are for.

The other great feature is that the opener (generally installed directly above where you would park your car inside) is installed on the side of the door. If you recall, my husband ordered special garage doors that “hug” the roofline…gaining him extra space when he decides to raise a vehicle he is restoring. If we had a garage door opener hanging down 5′, this would have been wasted space. But, the openers are all placed on the side. If you look closely on the right side of the photo, just above the garage door, you will see a small box. That’s the garage door opener. And I have a happy husband!

Here is a slightly better view of it. We ordered these on-line and they were installed in about 90 minutes.

The kitchen windows, doors and trim are done. *Okay, they will probably always need another top coat or touch-up, but for now they are done! I also decided (just yesterday) what I am doing for the windows in the kitchen. We need some privacy, but it’s the kitchen/dining. Plus, we don’t want to cover the beautiful arches in each window. However, it’s so bright during the day that we squint in the kitchen (not even kidding). ALL that to say, I finally found a solution. Well, I think it’s a solution. When they arrive in 2 weeks and we install them, I’ll let you know if it was a good idea or bad idea.

The upstairs laundry closet is basically done. It’s about 6 steps away from our master bedroom door and another 6 steps away from the upstairs guest suite. We decided to place a counter on top of the washer/dryer to have a small space to fold, set stuff, etc. We’ve not done this before, so we’ll see how we like it. We noticed it on a small space laundry room in a house we toured years ago and both kind of kept it in mind as we were putting this closet together.

Have a wonderful week and thank you for following along!

I love the picture of the kitchen area windows and doors. Understand why you want some privacy and shade from the sun.
You will be glad you installed the counter top over the washer and dryer.
