I would love to tell you that we had an incredibly productive week for this Tuesday Tidbits, but we sort of slacked off this last week at the house. We both worked at our day jobs during the week and when you toss in a couple of major holidays, family time, friend time and just plain ol’ life…this is the result. We did still managed to cross a few items off our list, which always feels good.

The newly created window in the kitchen (where an original window once was), required matching trim and the window panel below it. I took the below pic to show how we hodge-podge these things together sometimes. But next week I will have a pic of it all caulked, filled, sanded and painted (many times) and my guess is that no one will ever know that it’s a baby instead of 150 years old like the other windows.

In the below pic, you can see what the window panels look like…this was obviously our model to replicate the new window on the far right side.

I snapped this next pic as we were laughing…we really should be on the payroll for DeWalt Tools. Really. This was not staged, but rather what our life looks like right now.

The breezeway stairs (more of a platform than actual stairs) are all tiled, grouted and sealed. We chatted through different ideas for the risers on each stair and decided to do hickory wood since the tile bumps up against our hickory floor in the kitchen.

Trent bought some hickory wood planks and got them planed and sanded. I then put a few coats of clear poly to get them ready for installation. I’m sort of crossing my fingers that it looks the way I want it to look!

And because it is the start of a brand new year, we did take off on Sunday evening to have dinner with some friends and just relax. It’s a little blurry because the pic was a last minute thought, clearly a selfie and in the middle of a very busy restaurant…ahh, memories!

I hope you had a wonderful start to 2018…here’s to a wonderful year! Thank you for following along!

Happy New Year you two and glad to see that you took some well deserved time to enjoy yourselves. I like the Hickory for the risers, it is a strong and resilient wood to resist wear. We had Chinese for our New Year’s Day supper. They say it bring good luck and we are hoping the same for you…..
