Oh yes, it’s that time of the week again! Since this Tuesday’s Tidbits happens to also fall on Valentine’s Day, I decided to list a few things that Trent and I love about the house. (Totally cheesy, I know!)

We love the way the kitchen ceiling has turned out. Since the entire ceiling had to be “mudded” (we are going to pretend that is a real word), it looks a little more finished than it really is. And we love it!

The pic below is where our second kitchen island will go, along with more cabinets, a prep sink and a wall pantry. I have never had a second island in the kitchen and I’m pretty sure that I will love this feature.

We have been running fans, heaters and dehumidifiers to try and dry this house out. We need it dry so that we can put on the primer and start painting. I have narrowed down colors to a limited few. I’ll sample out my first choices for each area and modify as needed (you only accidentally paint an entire house lavender once). I will purchase samples of my top color choices and paint a 3’x3′ area in different corners of the room. It helps me see the color in various light. While we are still undecided on a few colors, the dark navy paint chip will be for the main level guest bathroom (along with white marble floors)…I am so in love with this dark navy!!

We are having a custom table made for our dining area (partially because the space is huge, partially because I had something in my mind and couldn’t find it anywhere). While it’s still a couple of months away from being finished, it will go right here and I am certain we will love it!

We invited our friends over last week to see the house in this current phase. While Trent and I have been running up and down the stairs (and along the open balcony area) with no railing, we know this isn’t super safe. Trent woke up the morning of our “open house” and decided we needed to put up a sort-of railing. It wasn’t much, but it made us feel like our friends (and their kiddos) were a little safer in this construction zone. While this is a far cry from what our actual railing will look like, I love that it gave us a better idea of the feel.

We have one neighbor family that stops by occasionally to say hello. The oldest son is so adorable and he, in all of his 6 year old wisdom, knows that we cannot hear people knocking on the front door when we are working. He opens up the gold mail slot and yells our names. C’mon! The cutest thing ever. Needless to say, we love this!

If you live in the Michiana area like us, we have a lot to love today! It’s a rare occasion that we get beautiful, sun and mild temps for Valentine’s Day. Enjoy the day and the rest of your week! As always, thank you for following along!

Your home is going to be absolutely stunning. We put alabaster on all the shiplap and love it. And we are going with a similar design in our bathroom as I also like the dark paint with the marble ❤. Very cute story about the neighbor boy- and the lavender paint 😄 Happy Valentines Day!

Great idea for the hand rail upstairs for the safety of your friends and family. Kids think of things differently and that was cute about your neighbor’s child doing what he did to get your attention. Way back, a young neighbor boy made sure that our ceramic frog that was perched on the bird bath also took his bath each day. We would laugh and put it back for the next day. You are making wonderful progress and don’t forget to take some time to enjoy your Valentine’s Day…..

I painted our living toom and dining room one day. It was suppose to be gray. As it dried I realized I just painted it lavender. LOL. I can relate!

I, too, love the ceilings! I know I’ve asked before, but will you be holding an open house when the project is completely finished? I would so love to see it, and wouldn’t think twice about the two hour drive to get there. I look forward to your Tuesday Tidbits. It’s all so fascinating!

We aren’t sure about a public open house (not ruling it out…just unsure). We have a lot of things in play right now and it might just depend on how those turn out.
