At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it has been another busy week! Let me assure you (again) that we have slow, boring stuff coming in the near future.
We hired a father/son-in-law mason team to do the exterior brick accents because let’s be honest: there was zero chance that we could have made it look this good. And they finished it up in just a few hours. Amazing! They added the concrete “toppers” to match all the window sills on the house – which I absolutely love. For those of you already itching to ask what will be done for the rest of the garage…you’ll just have to be patient (read: we haven’t decided 100% yet). We did save the brick from the old garage and re-used it for this project.
We also were able to get the stairs in the breezeway mostly framed and finished. I showed Trent a pic (on Pinterest, of course) with a breezeway that had nice, large stairs…almost platforms. He agreed that this would work perfect in our home. The plan is to have this area be all ceramic tile (to feel fully finished, but also be okay dirty and wet). I’m also begging and pleading for radiant floor heating in this area. Who wouldn’t want to come in from the garage during January and have this floor be heated?!
We are extremely happy with the progress that we are making, but also dead tired. A day or two off may be in our near future! Thanks for following along and have a wonderful week!

Those stairs are interesting. What’s the link to the inspiration pic?

This site (it’s an architect) has several breezeway shots that we used as our “guide” on this particular project!

Love the Low Rise Deep Tread steps. This makes this area handicap accessible for walkers or wheelchairs. We did this several years ago at my in-laws house and everybody loved it.

The heated breeze-way floor sounds like a winner to me and would be a great “ice-breaker” leading from the garage to your home. Nice job on the entry steps / platforms…..

I totally agree on heated floor in your breezeway … keep pleading and begging and PRAYING ;)!!
Your platform stairs are awesome – looks fabulous and they are not even finished yet!
So much fun watching your progress on this labor of love.
Thanks for sharing.
