Landscaping is happening this week..like right now! We are SO excited about this and even more excited about getting to partner with a local, Buchanan company: AmeriGreen. I will provide a full product/service review when this project is finished, but suffice to say we have enjoyed getting to know them these past few weeks. I’m guessing that things will go flawlessly.

Here’s the deal, though: we are doing the landscaping in phases. The reason is two-fold. One, we didn’t actually plan to do any landscaping until next spring….but it just looked horrible (I mean really, really awful). This first phase will allow us to get things cleaned up and have a blank slate for the new plantings. Two, we just aren’t 100% sure what we want. I need some time to let things settle, see what parts of our yard have sun/shade, actually see how large the yard is (it is HUGE!) and Pinterest the heck out of ideas.

So, if you are worried that the yard was a gorgeous garden (although, extremely overgrown) and we have now forever destroyed it, take a deep breath.¬†¬†This is Phase 1 folks, we promise!…Phase 2, 3, 4, etc are on the way.

If you have an opinion or (better yet) a photo of something that you think would be spectacular in our yard, please post it in the comments! The more ideas, the better!

I think peonies would look gorgeous of the porch!

I don’t know what you have for shade, but I love hostas. There are so many varieties and after they have established you can divide them and give them away or fill in other parts of the yard.

I’m so excited! Personally, I’d like to see plantings from the period of the house – but it’s your house, and I hope you have lots of fun planning the whole thing!!
